Mee Mee Tailor - by Damak Digital

Mr Lau is 76 years old. At this age, his eye sight is worsening thus he couldn’t do much sewing.

He came from Tanjung Malim, Perak and started his journey in tailoring business in Sekinchan as an apprentice at a small tailor shop.

At the age of 30, he migrated to Batu 9, Hulu Langat and started his own tailor shop and he’s been running the show ever since.
He commences business at 7 am and close at 4pm depending on his health. Nowadays, an income of RM250-350 in a month is something to celebrate.

Comes 2009, this whole stretch of old shop houses will be demolished in order to cater for the widening of a nearby road, which currently cannot support the flow of the increasing traffic.

Sadly, when the time arrives for the government to take over this property, Mr Lau has nothing in plan. Simply because he is just too tired to continue his business and furthermore, none of his children are interested to inherit the legacy which he has painstakingly crafted.

ChAPs First Exhibition - Invitation for Hari Skrin UiTM Puncak Perdana

Chap Ayam received an invitation from Fakulti Teknologi Kreatif & Artistik , Kampus Puncak Perdana, to do a mini exhibition for their "Hari Skrin" yesterday. We have less than 10 days to prepare so only selected members were called to prepare for the invitation and they managed to stage a decent exhibition...and bring the "Chap Ayam Photographers" name up a notch. Thank you to all and for the members those who did not make it, no worries, ChAPs will have another exhibition (and more insyaAllah) - so, check your mail frequently lah OK!

Here's some short write-up for the exhibition yesterday:
1.
Members Involved:
-Rahman Roslan: Myanmar Refugee
-Ted Adnan Asmadi: Commercial works
- Jidin: Forgotten Faces
- Zayd: Thaipusam
- Ian Ahad: Klang, Di Sebalik Wajah
- Shamshahrin: Bajau Laut & some features
- Torque: The Streets of Malaysia

2.
With less than 10 days to prepare, we worked closely around the clock and started selecting the photos and print them individually on A3 size art paper. Ian & Torque went shopping for the frames and whatchamacallit...to cut a long & tiring story short - everything was done and completed, ready in Ian's car to be sent to the location by 3am, the morning of the exhibition. By 1030am on the 9 April, everything single piece was on display.
3.
The crowd came in a steady flow - surprisingly the first batch were the lecturers, professors of the faculty (Yeah...we felt like as if we were submitting our final group assignment for final semester!). They were impressed and actually did ask for prices of some of the works....and look forward to the next exhibition ChAPs is going to stage. Students of the faculty were interested with the works on display and we had good conversations and interactions with some of them.
4.
We thought we'd call it a day at 5pm but the organizer asked us to stay on and join the VIP for award giving ceremony & dinner, after which we had to pack all the stuff in and finally call it a day. In short, it was an interesting experience - for the first timers! - and to have our works displayed together with the best in Malaysia/ World.....is a massive reward already. Alhamdulillah.
5.
Though we had to sacrifice hours (which may count up to days!) of sleep, it was worth it....KUDOS ChAPs!

One of the common questions asked by the professors & students - "Why Chap Ayam?"

.....because CHAP AYAM PUN BOLEH MAAAA!!!

Photographs make you wise - 9

"There are always two people in every picture; The photographer and the viewer."

Ansel Adams

Some of the mountain was mark with a plat as a sign of the mountain's peak. Other than that, the mountain also was mark with Beirut, a triangle arch made from iron.
And this plat lavel was located at 1685m above sea level

God's Creation : Beautidul Isn't It by Hafiz@Kadak

Shoot this rainbow on a moon on the way to home after my fishing session at Ulu Bendol, Negeri Sembilan.

Rainbow
- Vincent G. Mead [edited by Hafiz]

When I look at the Rainbow I see it's hue, it reminds me that your love for us true
Your Rainbow in sky so blue, reminds me to keep praying through...

When I look at your Rainbow and see how it's colors are bright, it reminds me to do what is right
Your Rainbow I have never seen at night, this reminds me
to stay in the light...

Your Rainbow have no pot of gold, but your wonderful story of love it has told...

Chinese New Year & General Election 2008

Salams & hello to all Ayamers!

It has been a while, everybody seems busy!
Now that the General Election has ended and March to mid April seems to be a quiet month, the ChAPs committee are going to select & announce the best shots for Chinese New Year & General Election.

At the same time, we are in the midst of launching our first ChAPs activity - the committee responsible has been working hard to make it happen as promised although they are professionals in their own field and have to sacrifice extra hours for ChAPs.

It has also been informed by some members that there are questions on how to become a member of ChAPs. The only answer to that would be - start sending your best shots as per the given guidelines on this page and we'll take it from there! And for those who wants to have a piece of that ChAPs t-shirt, the time will come, we'll try to make it available for sale but only for those who have contributed / submitted their best to ChAPs....fair enough?

We'll take it one thing at a time, although some may say it has been a bit slow, something is cooking and ChAPS is still here to stay, always baybeh!
