Barefoot Hindus walk across white-hot embers at the Sri Mariamman Devasthanam Temple in Kuala Lumpur 10th August 2008. In Puchong, the celebrations begin at Sri Mariamman Devasthanam Temple around 6.30 p.m. and the priest leads the grand procession of people through the streets to Sri Mariamman Temple. In honour of the goddess Draupadi, this ceremony will start with priest by walking through the pit filled with hot burning coals with the Karagam (sacred water filled pot) on his head. He is followed by male devotees intent on fulfilling their personal promises and proving their faith. At the end of the ceremony, hindu's devotees will throwing the salt before the lane covered with the soil.
