"The Penambang of Sarawak River" by The Torque

Penambang - small boat used by the Kuching locals to commute from the riverbanks of their village to the city centre's Waterfront.

Generally used by the villagers on the northern banks of the Sarawak River (where localities are mainly Malays and the pri-bumis), the penambangs are unique attraction to the tourists. Not only it is a cheap means of transportation but it is fairly safe, convenient and very efficient.

Crossing the Sarawak River is a routine by many citizens of Kuching and this will happen from dawn till late evening....which means the service of these small boats will always be there until there is posibbly no more activity in the city.
